December Newsletter 2013

Hello Everyone,

newsletter-1Only two weeks till Christmas and if you are like me you have left everything to the last minute. I did manage to get a little organised and do some shopping on Sunday. The rest will have to wait till the following Sunday and whatever I don’t get done then will most probably be left until next year. I do still have a few gifts left over from last year’s last minute frenzy so I will go through them and see if any are still age appropriate this year. This Friday night will be tree decorating time, and this is definitely my favourite Christmas activity (other than giving pressies). Each year I search out a new decoration to add to our collection, and it will go on first, followed by 32 years of Christmas memories. Many people have become tired of the Christmas traditions we grew up with, and shun it, saying that Christmas is a commercially driven consumerist money making waste of time. Yes, I agree it can be. But the coming together of loved ones to celebrate a tradition can also bring about a new sense of connection and purpose. Yves and I will be having Christmas at home this year. It will be our first year without having to travel for 7 years. My family will travel to me for the first time in over 10 years and I am looking forward to sitting still and celebrating the joy of friends and family with lots of food and fun with the Grandchildren.

Low-Xmas-Tree-20cm-6-160x160 Next Friday, 20th December will be our last delivery for the year. The shop will be closed for almost two weeks, from 25th December till 6th January. The new year will be bringing a lot of changes to Green Hills Organics. The past 12 months have been very hard for all of us. When Abundant Organics closed in January and we had an enormous number of enquiries about home delivery we decided to take it on with enthusiasm and add an extra run to our service, going up into The Blue Mountains as far as Leura. This however didn’t prove to be successful. Increasing costs and the unprofitable numbers of home deliveries in general has also made us reconsider the viability of continuing with the home delivery service that we offer. As you know, we are primarily a retail outlet with the additional home deliver. Sadly we have decided to discontinue all home delivery services next year. Yves and I have been very grateful for your continued support, many of you have been with us for almost 5 years since we took over the business  in 2009, and it has been a very difficult decision to make. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of our hearts and to wish you all good health and much joy for the coming year.

We will be delivering this week and next week as usual. Please let me know now if you  have any special requests for Christmas. Hams and Turkeys will be here next week and will be delivered on Friday.

Have a wonderful week and enjoy the Christmas preparations.

Bon Appétit and Happy Gardening,

Theresa & Yves and our Merry Team,
